[Update: Hartman’s Sketches] Dave Siller: Mark Cerny was commissioning Hanna Barbera Studios to Create “Willie”

Oh my, what is this, you may ask

Let’s hear what Dave Siller has to say about this:

Back in the very earliest days of Project: “Willie the Wombat”, Mark Cerny apparently was commissioning Hanna Barbera Cartoon Studios to create the character known only at that time as “Willie”. That was the name that Jason Rubin had chosen for this main character in his six page brief.

Hanna Barbera Studios were just around the corner from Universal Studios. The artist who was assigned to the project, was a young, talented and quite nice gentleman named Butch Hartman*.

More to come…!!!
