Perhaps 2020 was a bit rough on everyone, and even with some doubt, there’s no denying that the bandicoot still got it. I (personally) reckon that this year, given that it’s the 25th anniversary, could be a major year for the franchise. Here’s what to expect:
The releases
It should be no surprise to anybody that expectations might not always be met depending on how the year might go, so take some of what is said with a grain of salt. Let’s get going of what to expect when it comes to releases:
- Animated Cartoon Show by Bill Kopp and Jeff DeGrandis (Rumoured)
- Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! By King Games for iOS and Android (March 25, confirmed)
- Crash Bandicoot PvP (Player vs Player) game, potentially teased by Crash 4/Toys for Bob as “Wumpa League” (Rumoured)
- Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time on Nintendo Switch and PC ports (Rumoured)
- There’s been no word aside from an ESRB rating for a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S patch/port
- Crash in Super Smash Bros Ultimate (Speculated, but seems unlikely? Although still nice to have faith in)
The anniversaries (major)
Now, if we’re counting by fives, then you note that we have the following games of note. As follows:
- Skylanders Imaginators by Toys for Bob, published by Activision – October 13, 2016 (Thumpin Wumpa Islands, 5th)
- Crash Boom Bang by Dimps, published by Vivendi Universal Games – July 20, 2006 (NDS, 15th)
- Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex by Traveller’s Tales, published by Universal Interactive Studios – October 29, 2001 (20th)
And finally, this year also marks the 5th anniversary of that E3 2016 announcement for N. Sane Trilogy and Skylanders Imaginators. (June 13, 2016)
As well as the fact that Spyro 4 was teased in Crash 4’s Artbook (The Gaming Revolution noted it too).
There you have it. If there’s any error or missing info, please let me know!

crash in smash “unlikely”? it will be there 100% or nintendo has a bias against him being more recognizible as a sony mascotte.
also, cannot wait for the cartoon series, hoping to be true.

My reasoning for that is more about the sort of lack about any real indication for this to happen. Nintendo tends to be incredibly unpredictable about their choices. I would still love for it to happen.
