The Soft-Launch for Crash On the Run has recently launched on Android devices via the Google Play Store on Monday, December 7th, which is currently, it’s only available in Canadian and Malaysian territories. So, what new does this new launch have in store for us?
Well, while a lot has changed since the initial alpha that made its way onto Android devices earlier this year, this new soft-launch packs in a plethora of features, content, and additions that were added or changed made since the last time we saw the game in action, which are listed below in. Do note, however, that this is still an early build of the game with plenty of things that are bound to change in the coming months, this is in no way the final version.
NEW FEATURES
- Coco is now a playable character. You can switch between Crash & Coco at the start of levels by tapping at their icon at the top of the screen. Coco is playable immediately after the tutorial battle & collection run.
- Skins are now available to unlock. Crash and Coco have a range of different looks to try on, have the duo wear Biker attire from Warped or mix and match by having Crash look like a skunk or Coco resembling Nina Cortex.
- There are 17 Skins in total!
- Skins also provide bonuses for Crash Points.
- Crash Points are a new way to progress through ingame events and get you some exclusive skins. To earn Crash Points, you can forge a Tiki Head on the lab base and redeem the amount of steps you’ve taken ingame along with your Wumpa Fruit collection, and trade those in for Crash Points.
- Though be wary, dying will reset the number of steps you’ve taken so try to revive if you can.
- Multiplayer is here, connect with players across the world to form Teams and compete together to climb the leaderboards with your overall number of Crash Points
- Race against the clock in Time Trials! Destroy time crates, dash with boost pads, and get across the stage as fast as possible to acquire the coveted Time Relics.
- Crystals have arrived to be purchased in the ingame shop along with a subscription service. They can also still be gained through gameplay and watching ads on a Vending Machine. Crystals are used for buying skins, getting resources and gear like potions and ammo instantaneously.
NEW ENEMIES
- Joining the Cyborg Turtles and Spiders as enemies in your path are the electrifying Scrubbers, bouncy Blobs, and Carnivorous Spitting Plants.
- Go against 24 Bosses & 96 Henchmen.
- Nitro Crabs, Nitro Ants, and Nitro Spiders (plus their Frosty, Inferno, and Oxide variants) are no longer the only henchmen, to get ready for Cortex’s loyal Lab Assistants to strike along with Cybernetic Penguins.
- Prepare for a Bandicoot Barbeque with a newly redesigned Dingodile, resembling his design from the N. Sane Trilogy.
- New Bosses have arrived such as Nina Cortex, Fake Crash, Uka Uka, Neo Cortex, and his robotic variation from CTR: Nitro-Fueled.
NEW LOCATIONS
- Starting at the Island base, you may notice a few new additions, such as a Jetpack and Jetboard under tarps along with a minecart and a potential appearance of Moneybags from the Spyro series.
- New Lands have arrived with 9 in total to play through that are based off from levels from the first 3 Crash games. Explore newly added locations such as The Lab, Sewer or Later, Dino-Might, The Great Gate, and Snow Go.
