Look at how “Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time” is performing in the UK according to GSD after each release.
In a reverse of the physical charts, Star Wars Squadrons was the most downloaded game in the UK last week.
EA’s game narrowly missed out on the top spot to Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time in GfK’s physical retail top ten. Yet in GSD’s digital charts, the Star Wars flight game comfortably outsold Activision’s platform game. In fact, with retail and digital combined, Star Wars Squadrons was the best-selling game of last week overall.
However, even with digital included, the game couldn’t match the launch sales of last year’s hit Star Wars release, Jedi: Fallen Order. Of course, both games are in very different genres, and Fallen Order launched in the middle of the Christmas sales period.
Crash Bandicoot 4 was the second best-selling digital game of the month, just ahead of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. Ubisoft’s shooter has staged a comeback over the past month following the release of a new season and a series of promotional activity.
Note: These charts only feature games published by a selection of leading publishers (see below). Nintendo games are missing as Nintendo do note currently take part in the GSD project.
