Mondelez International: In-Game Content Promotion for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Revealed via Sour Patch Kids and Trident Vibes

Last Sunday, it was discovered via some retail shops by some fans living in the United States, that Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is being featured in Sour Patch Kids and Trident VIBES products, which are both owned by Mondelēz International. This promotion for the game by Activision and Mondelēz International is notable for a reason, the fact that it features a code that can unlock in-game content, which is inside the packaging of both the bag for the Sour Patch Kids gummy candies and bottle for the Trident VIBES gum.

The special promotion uses the standard affair of the renders that we’ve come to expect, there are two websites that are setup but not live yet as of this writing (spkcrash.com and tridentcrash.com, WHOIS information for spkcrash.com and tridentcrash.com), and it reportedly begins on Friday, August 30, 2019 via a message to the company thanks to Nostalgic Chamber Productions on YouTube. This is not completely surprising considering that Activision partnered with Mondelēz last year for the Overwatch League, and they do a lot of this kind of advertising with Call of Duty as well.

On top of this, it is currently unknown if Mondelēz International will be using this promotion on another brand like Oreo, since that usually also features notable special variants like the 50th Moon Landing anniversary Marshmallow Moon Edition.

Here’s what products from either brands by the company that were found so far as follows:

  • Sour Patch Kids: Standard Flavour 5 OZ (141g) and 8 OZ (226g) – Watermelon in 8 OZ (226g)
  • Trident: VIBES Gum Bottle Flavours of Tropical Beat – Spearmint Rush Flavours

    Quick mistake, and it’s kind of a big one. The YouTube comment states 8/30 as the start date which would be this month, July, not August.
