It’s 2018 and it is quite standard for many games to come with a variety of options to choose from, like graphics, gameplay, audio, accessibility and other sets of specific settings. With the reception of both Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, this is a curious case of Activision’s lack of commitment or rather a policy that we do not know of that does not enforce the inclusion of such details options for players to utilize.
Although Spyro from the beginning has more dialogue and has subtitles to read in most cases, the option to enable or disable isn’t available and some places do not feature subtitles outside of dialogue boxes, much like in the original releases. For Crash, the original games also did not feature subtitles and in N. Sane, that was never added and was never addressed officially.
In response to BubbleButt64’s ResetERA thread regarding the lack of subtitles in these Activision titles, I thought it was fitting to have a poll/discussion and see what everyone following the blog thinks of this issue. If you would like to get the featured image, check out the Xbox Price Checker for the Spyro/Crash Bundle.

I mean, it’s not entirely necessary. Subtitles are actually a lot more work thank you think, especially for Spyro 1. On the other hand, there are only a few cinematic for Crash and Spyro, the Spyro 1 dragon scenes are the only hitch. I would like the option, sure, and I think it would be good for people who want or need it, but I’m not gonna demand Activision stop everything to put the feature in (although Resetera might stoop that low).

That back handed comment was out of line and necessary, I apologize. Continuing on, Crash really would not need many subtitles, but Spyro has a bit more story, so it would require more effort. I know Activision can be a bit stingy with patches for “offline games”, so maybe next games? Maybe if we stay calm and ask nicely?

“Maybe if we stay calm and ask nicely?”
Uh, isn’t that what we and the thread are doing? Why are you assuming something when the thread is just simply people asking nicely while being disgruntled about the lack of the option?
